NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEVV) — CenterPoint Energy says that typically during storms linemen will climb about 30 times in total. The impact of these storms has had crews climbing about 30 times a day.
Over 2,000 customers are still without power since Tuesday’s storms. It’s caused many families to have to leave their homes or use generators.
Lindsey Alvey, a homeowner without power, says, “We’ve been okay. We have the heat set on 64. I’m sitting by a space heater right now.”
While homeowners try to make the best out of the situation, the stress is still there on if they will get power back soon.
“We’re supposed to go out of town tomorrow, so I’m really hoping that it’ll be back on,” says Alvey.
The devastating storms left over 150 electric poles destroyed.
Richard Leger, the senior vice president for Indiana Electric, says, “The damage in this storm has been unlike anything we’ve seen.”
