Ex-Norfolk city manager gets VP job at CNU [Video]

CNU announced Chip Filer will become the University’s Vice President for Facilities and Campus Operations.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Norfolk’s former city manager is taking on a new job at Christopher Newport University (CNU).

“Chip is exceptionally qualified and deeply experienced and will bring great energy to this important position,” CNU President William Kelly said in a press release.

CNU said Filer began his new job on April 8. In his new role, the university said Filer will “provide guidance, supervision, and oversight” to several departments, including the offices of facilities management, campus police, and emergency management.

“I am honored to join President Kelly and the amazing leadership team at CNU,” Filer wrote on his LinkedIn profile announcing his new job. “I am also excited that I get to remain in Hampton Roads and continue working to grow and strengthen the region. Go Captains!”
