Dedication of the new Shasta County courthouse

Redding, Calif. – Nearly 200 people were in attendance for the dedication ceremony of the new Shasta County courthouse. Speakers included California Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero as well as Shasta County Presiding Judge Adam B. Ryan, administrative director Shelley Curran, and Judge Steven E. Jahr.

The new courthouse addresses many problems the county was encountering with the previous building including, overcrowding, accessibility, and security concerns. Justice Guerrero tells Action News Now that the courthouse is a reflection of the importance of access to justice in communities like Shasta County. She also said in her speech that this project was “one of the highest priority courthouse projects in the state”.

The six story building was completed in January 2024 and began hearing cases in February.
