Iowa Ag Secretary to stop in Sioux City, Hinton, Cherokee [Video]

SIOUX CITY — Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is set to make multiple stops in Northwest Iowa on Friday.

In the morning, Naig is visiting Cold-Link Logistics in Sioux City and Hinton High School in Hinton before making an afternoon stop at American Natural Processors in Cherokee. 

On Thursday, Naig visited Sac City and Galva, Iowa.

This past week, Naig penned an op-ed about preventing ownership of Iowa farmland by “foreign adversaries.” Iowa bars foreign groups from owning more than 320 acres of farmland. Naig said he has worked with Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Attorney General Brenna Bird on legislation to further address such purchases. 

“The legislation focuses on three key areas. First, we must strengthen reporting requirements so there is full transparency about who owns our land,” Naig wrote. “Secondly, the attorney general must have the tools she needs, including subpoena power, to fully and aggressively investigate any concerns that arise. More than 8,000 pounds of frozen pizza recalled over soy concern WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio [Video]

Certain boxes of 802 VT Frozen Meat Crispy Wood-Fired Crust Hand Made Pizza have been recalled after a routine inspection by the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) revealed the pizza contains soy but does not have the proper allergen warning on the box.
