MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Joe Jefferson Players is excited to present our spring production Mame. The musical Mame follows the story of the eccentric and vivacious Mame Dennis, a wealthy and free-spirited woman who embraces life with energy and charm. When she becomes the unexpected guardian of her young nephew, Patrick, her life takes a new direction as she navigates the challenges of motherhood while continuing to live life to the fullest. Mame is a celebration of love, family, and the joy of living life in full swing, no matter the circumstances.

The musical was inspired by the success of the 1956 Broadway comedy and subsequent 1958 film version, as well as the 1955 novel by Patrick Dennis. Mame opened on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre in 1966 with Angela Lansbury as Mame and Bea Arthur as Vera Charles.
