Kochis speaks to City Council about Flock Safety cameras for second time – [Video]

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — As part of Charlottesville’s efforts to implement effective measures for crime prevention, Police Chief Michael Kochis and his department have organized presentations on the Flock Safety cameras with community stakeholders. At Monday night’s City Council meeting Kochis shared the feedback he’s received.

Kochis explained the Flock Safety technology to City Council Monday night using an incident on Elliewood Avenue as an example.

“We had a description early on of a silver four-door sedan that the suspects just got into. That description was given to dispatch immediately after that person was killed in a parking lot at around 1:00 in the morning. If we had the Flock ALPR system, we would’ve been able to put that information immediately into that system, and any silver four-door sedan that would’ve driven through one of the Flock systems would have alerted responding officers,” he explained.
