Lt. Governor Primavera visits El Paso County schools [Video]

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — On Monday, April 15 Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera met with students and staff at Falcon High School, Mesa Elementary, and Doherty High School in honor of April being ‘Month of the Military Child.’

Purple Up! Day and the Month of the Military Child was proclaimed by Governor Jared Polis and President Joe Biden as an opportunity for communities to support and thank military-connected children for their service and the unique sacrifices they and their families make.

According to Falcon High School, more than 25% of the 25,000 students in School District 49 have a direct connection to the U.S. Military. The Month of the Military Child began in the mid-80s when Department of Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger, wanted to recognize and thank military families.
