Man dies from serious injuries in Groton assault, police say [Video]

GROTON, Conn. — A man who was reportedly assaulted and found unconscious in a Groton parking lot on Monday died from his injuries, the town’s police department said Wednesday.

The man, identified as 46-year-old Gerson Chiluisa of Bridgeport, died on March 26 at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, police said. 

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington performed an autopsy and told police Wednesday that the cause of death was determined to be a “blunt force injury of the head,” and that the manner was a homicide.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Division determined that Chiliusa had been confronted by a suspect and was hit, causing him to fall to the ground, according to police.
