OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Wesley Orr wasn’t just a customer at Generation V’s store near 78th and Dodge streets Saturday.

He also signed a petition there to put medical marijuana on the November 2024 ballot.

“It just seems if it’s been proven and it’s good in helping people out, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have that available,” Orr said.

Advocates say medicinal cannabis could be used to treat epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.

That’s why Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana held a big push for collecting more signatures for the ballot initiative, hosting 50 signing events in 30 different cities Saturday.

Organizers said cannabis can provide an important medical alternative to what’s already out there.
