OP police investigating overnight stabbing; victim in critical condition [Video]

UPDATE, 7:30 a.m. | The Overland Park Police Department said Merriam officers initially responded to a stabbing victim who arrived at an area hospital.

Officers have since learned the stabbing occurred in the 8100 block of W. 89th Street in Overland Park. The victim is an Overland Park resident.

Detectives talked to witnesses on the scene who said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

The suspect is not in custody.

The victim is out of surgery, but police said the victim is still listed in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.

EARLIER | Overland Park police are investigating an aggravated battery.

Officers were called to the 8100 block of West 89th Street about 12:15 a.m. Monday.

Police said the victim had life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police are on the scene investigating.
