Police searching for suspect after they almost crashed into patrol car in Williamston [Video]

WILLIAMSTON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Williamston Police Department said they are searching for a suspect after they almost hit a patrol vehicle and later crashed into a power pole while fleeing an officer on Saturday.

According to police, an officer was patrolling on East Carolina Street when a car topped the hill almost hitting the patrol car. The officer turned around attempting a traffic stop, but the suspect vehicle sped off and crashed into a power pole, deputies said.

The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Due to the crash into the power pole, Duke Energy had to cut off an entire grid to repair.

Police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jordan Q. Thomas.

There are five arrests warrants for the suspect, including: reckless driving, driving under suspension, hit-and-run with property damage (est. $55,000), malicious damage and driving an uninsured vehicle.
