Sioux County radio program bringing awareness to suicide [Video]

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KTIV) – In 2022 49,449 people died by suicide and of those, 39,255 were men. That is something that hit close to home to the General Manager of Sioux County Radio when one of his best friends died by suicide.

Now the radio station is using its platform to honor his fallen friend and to raise awareness to a continuing mental health issue.

“Rog’s Corner”, is a weekly radio show produced by Sioux County Radio out of Sioux Center. Piet Westerbeek, the General Manager of the station got the idea to raise awareness around mental health and suicide after his good friend Roger Broek died by suicide.

Now the station partners with the Creative Living Center to create an informational program on the airwaves.
