LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – When tornado winds tear a swath of wreckage through an area, many start asking questions of how and why.
“A lot of them have been like, ‘I can’t believe this happen,’” Kayleigh Hilyard, a Union College student, said. “Or they’re just shocked in tears.”
And while Union College’s International Rescue and Relief team can’t provide the answers, they can lend their hands and heads to help.
“They’re able to put into practice the skills that they’ve been learning through the program,” Andrew Saunders, who leads the program, said. “And the more responses that they go on, the more responsibility they get.”
