US Supreme Court reviews Idaho abortion ban, spotlight on Arizona [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The Federal Supreme Court is hearing a case about whether state bans on abortions during medical emergencies conflict with federal health care law after the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The Biden Administration is suing to block Idaho’s law, which closely resembles Arizona’s 1864 law.

“It will make it very difficult for doctors to provide emergency care and when they’re threatened with criminal prosecution when providing that care,” said Mark Kokanovich, a former federal prosecutor and attorney at Ballard Spahr.

The administration sued to block Idaho’s law, which is a near-total abortion ban with exceptions in cases of rape and incest or when the mother’s health is at risk.
