VA severe weather: Dominion Energy prepare for storm impacts [Video]

Dominion Energy and several cities geared up to respond to the storm impacts.

NORFOLK, Va. — Dominion Energy had crews on standby Wednesday afternoon for any potential storm impacts that have since passed.

A Dominion Energy spokesperson told 13News Now that crews were prepared to work through the night across eastern Virginia.

“Based on current weather forecasts, we expect the greatest impacts in our Hampton Roads service area, especially from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach,” according to Dominion Energy. “We will continue monitoring the weather as forecasts evolve. Possible weather impacts include strong winds which can knock trees into power poles and lines, leading to power outages.”

Cherise Newsome, a spokeswoman for Dominion Energy, said teams are working overnight in all of their Hampton Roads offices. Newsome said Dominion has also activated its “storm center.”
