Yuma doctor faces new sexual assault charges [Video]

YUMA, AZ (AZFamily) — Yuma medical doctor Edsel Sandoval has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of sexual abuse and sexual assault, but now he’s facing new charges from women who were his patients.

According to the Yuma Police Department, eight new women have come forward against Sandoval.

“There’s now eleven victims and 21 counts that Sandoval is facing,” said Lori Franklin with the Yuma Police Department.

Court documents show records of abuse from April 2022 to last March.

Yuma police say there could be others and encourage any survivors to come forward.

“One thing they have in common is that they are all women, all the victims are female. There are all age ranges from the time that they were victims from 18 to 65 years old. If you think you’re a victim of something, call us and talk to us about it,” said Franklin.

Sandoval’s medical license is suspended while the investigation continues.

He’ll be back in court in June.
